Catherine A. Goergens

Catherine A. Goergens, 85, of Delphos, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at The Meadows of Delphos.

She was born December 24, 1939, in Richmond Dale, Ohio to Herman and Margaret (Schaub) Haynes who both preceded her in death. On October 27, 1962, she married Alan A. Goergens who preceded her in death on February 24, 2023.

Cathy is survived by her children, Gregory (Janice) Goergens of Kalida, Thomas (Mary) Goergens of Delphos and Jane (Joseph) Selhorst of Kalida; grandchildren, Amber (Tyler) Allen, Nicholas (Katie) Goergens, Sara (Steven) Haman, Chad (Morgan) Goergens, Adam Goergens, Erik (Amy) Selhorst and Lauryn (Cameron) Remlinger; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Emily) Haynes of Granville.

Cathy was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a 1958 graduate of Blume High School. She was a homemaker. Cathy and her husband spent their time vacationing together enjoying several cruises and their joy of gambling was spent on the Rising Star Casino Ferry too many times to count.

She had a special way of making people feel good about themselves - always ready with a kind word, a genuine compliment, or a little something to lift someone’s spirits.

Cathy enjoyed the activities at The Meadows, especially bingo with her lady friends. Even though she did not have a hobby to speak of, day after day she looked forward to checking in on the live eagle nest cam in Big Bear Valley.  We will miss her stories, her laughter and the way her eyes lit up when the eaglets would begin flapping their wings. Now when we watch those eagles, we’ll think of her - free, soaring and always watching over us.

The family dearly appreciated the exceptional care mom received the past three years at The Meadows of Delphos.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday; and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before the service Friday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
