Virginia Will Obituary

Virginia ‘Ginny' Will, of Delphos, passed away the morning of Monday, August 28, 2017 at Vancrest of Delphos. Virginia was born in Allen County, Delphos to Everett and Eleanor (Hesseling) Buettner. She graduated from Delphos St. John's High School and from St. Rita's Hospital School of Nursing where she worked as a registered nurse. She also worked for American Nursing Care, Lima, Van Wert Manor and Vancrest. She worked at Delphos Memorial Home and Sarah Jane Chambers Geriatric Center for a total of 26 years, 15 years of which she served as administrator. She then worked for Lima Convalescent Home in the Alzheimer's unit for 17 years. She spent over 50 years in the nursing home industry. Virginia and Esther Miller, RN, were instrumental in establishing the baseline for the STNA (State Tested Nurse's Aide) program in the state of Ohio. Virginia is survived by her children, Anne Hefner, Dave Christen and Betty (Charlie) Hoersten; grandchildren, Adam (Samantha) Hefner, Cayla Christen, Laura (Aaron) Duffy and Abbie (Matt) Turner; great-grandchildren, Kira Hefner, Ayven and Rowan Turner, Edana Duffy; brothers, Charles (Doris) and Melvin (Bonnie) Buettner; sisters, Eloise (Jim) Shumaker, Marie (Gordon) Fullerton and Kathy (Tom) Raabe; sister-in-law, Pat (Jack) Holden; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was blissfully married to Gerald ‘Jerry' Will from April 18, 1998 until his death on January 29, 2000. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Melvin and brothers-in-law, Jim Shumaker, Gordon Fullerton and Jack Holden. Affiliations include St. John's Alumni, St. Rita's Medical Center School of Nursing Alumni, Ohio Nursing Professionals, Ohio Nursing Home Administrators, many nursing organizations, Alzheimer Foundation, and BPO Elks. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, with a Parish Wake Service at 7:30 p.m.; and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Friday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund. The family wishes to thank St. Rita's Medical Center and Vancrest of Delphos for the excellent care given to Virginia.
