Norman J. Knippen, 95, of Delphos, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, St. Rita's Medical Center. His Family.... He was born July 1, 1921 in Delphos to the late Benedict and Josephine (Saum) Knippen. On June 18, 1947 he married Alice C. (Kaverman) Knippen who preceded him in death on February 21, 2014. Norman is survived by five sons, Tom (Sue) Knippen of Delphos; Dan (Sue) Knippen of Ft. Jennings; Paul (Karen) Knippen of Delphos; Ralph (Doreen) Knippen of Ft. Jennings and Ron (Sheree) Knippen of Ft. Jennings; three daughters, Ann (Ron) Mueller of Delphos; Laura (Jim) Buettner of Ft. Jennings and Patty (Rob) Buescher of Delphos; and 31 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn Ricker, Ruby Miller and Sally Wallenhorst. His Legacy.... Norman was a farmer. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul and the K of C Council 1362 of Delphos. He served in the United States Army. He previously served on the board of directors at Fort Jennings Equity Elevator and German Mutual Insurance Company. His Farewell Services.... Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday and 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday with a Parish Wake at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to Delphos St. John's Parish Foundation, the St. John's Teacher's Endowment Fund or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
