Maureen Rode

Maureen Rode, 88, of Gomer, passed away Tuesday morning, January 28, 2025 at her home.

She was born May 6, 1936 in Lima to Harold A. and Eleanor L. (O’Connor) Finn who both preceded her in death. On December 27, 1958 she married to Ralph L. Rode who preceded her in death October 22, 2020.

Mrs. Rode was a life-long member of St. Gerard Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Gerard High School in 1954. She attended Mary Manse College in Toledo where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1958. She taught school at St. Gerard School for over thirty years. She enjoyed reading, writing, cooking, travel and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Andy (Connie) Rode of Elida, Dan (Ann) Rode of Indian Lake, Tony (Jenny) Rode of Elida; three daughters, Kathy Skarzynski of Kettering, Patricia (Dave) Black of New Carlisle and Julie (Bill) Shisler of Centerville. She was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, Kim (Les) Bowen, Crystal (Ian) Chapman, Vanessa (Bruce) Saperstein, Amanda (Michael) Henry, Laura Skarzynski, Greg (Tasha) Black, Sarah (Johnny) Gould, Brittany Tyler, Luke Rode, Tyler Rode, Elizabeth (Zach) ShislerDawson, Robert Shisler, Lindsay (DJ) Whitacre, Hailey Rode, and Lily Rode; and 10 great-grandchildren, Brielle Neeley, Ruger Neeley, Mackenna Saperstein, Sienna Saperstein, Mason Henry, Asher Henry, Samuel Gould, Cadence Tyler, Atlas Baker and Bane Whitacre. She is also survived by two brothers, Dennis (Deb) Finn of Franklin, TN, and Terry (Rosemary) Finn of Rockford, IL; three sisters, Sheila (John) Reaman of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Nora (Tim) Moore of Englewood, and Colleen (Tom) Schwartz of Lockport, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy and Michael Finn; a sister, Patricia Anderson; sister-in-law, Monica Finn; and a son-in-law, John Skarzynski.

A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 240 W. Robb Avenue, Lima. Burial will follow at Pike Run Cemetery which is located on the edge of the Rode Farm.

A visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 31 at Weber Funeral Home 1840 East Fifth Street, Delphos. Visitation will also be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the mass on Saturday in the back of church.
