John A. Trentman, age 87, of Delphos, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. His Family.... He was born January 16, 1928 in Delphos to the late Sylvester and Katherine (Stauterman) Trentman. On September 6, 1952 he married Norma Marie (Rode) Trentman, who preceded him in death on November 1, 2014. He is survived by seven children, Helen (Paul) Dorsten of Dayton, Marilyn (Ted) Kerner of Delphos, Michael (Valerie) Trentman of Cincinnati, Karen (Tom) Martin of Elida, Jean (Tony) Sroufe of Elida, Roger (Diane) Trentman of Ft. Jennings and Kevin (Leslie) Trentman of Ft. Jennings; sixteen grandchildren, Matt (Rebecca) Dorsten, Andrea (Eric) Munn, Eric (Lisa) Kerner, Lisa (Chris) Herron, Becky Trentman, Liz Trentman, Jen (Nate) Moore, Julie (Jason) Booth, Andrew (Kristin) Sroufe, Brian (Christine) Sroufe, Renee (Steve) Jacquemin, Travis (Melinda) Trentman, Bradley Trentman, Lindsey Trentman, Luke Trentman and Nick Trentman; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Donnie) Trentman; in-laws, Monica (Don) Miller, Dorothy (Nub) Grothause, Art Rode Jr., Sr. Toni Rode and Ron (Mary Lou) Rode. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Trentman; a brother, James Trentman; in-laws, Mary Trentman, Jerome Rode, Pat Rode and HH (Red) Koester. His Legacy.... John retired from General Dynamics in Lima and was a lifelong farmer. He previously worked at Chrysler in Van Wert. He was a 1946 graduate of St. John's. He was an active member of Delphos St. John Catholic Church, volunteered for 25 years at the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1362. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His Farewell Services.... Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Father Ron Schock officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Delphos Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, with a Parish Wake Service at 2:00 p.m. There will also be visitation prior to the service on Friday at Strayer Funeral Home, 1840 E.
