He was very involved in the community, having served as councilman and safety service director. Gene had a passion to be involved in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives. Gene Warnecke Legacy: "There is no better family to have raised than the Warnecke family, with all their attributes and gifts they have brought to the family. Even a ‘strike-out' was a thing of beauty to me. Everything I have done in life has been for my family. Everything that has happened within our family has been a thing of beauty and pride for me." Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Charles Obinwa officiating. He will be laid to rest alongside the love of his life of 62 years, Marcy, in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday; and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday, at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos.
