Celeste Bushnell Obituary

Celeste Marie Bushnell (Metzner), 63, passed away in the afternoon on Sunday March 26th in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by family and friends. Celeste was born in Delphos, Ohio and grew up the eldest of ten children in a loving household. She graduated from Delphos St. John's High School and then went on to get a degree in nursing at Shapiro School of Nursing at Sinai Hospital of Detroit. While she was born in Delphos she also called both suburban Detroit and the English countryside home for much of her life. Her caring and generous spirit touched the lives of many in those places through her volunteer work with animals and seniors; her work at Adenbrooke's, Papworth and Peterborough City Hospitals; and her many friendships. Celeste was the dedicated mother of three children Theodore (38), Amanda (36) and Michael Kill (32). Celeste loved being a mother and a grandmother, she always helped a friend in need, she loved singing oldies and Christmas carols, wasn't afraid to be silly - and as such found the joy in the little things in life. Celeste traveled all over the world but her love for family and her home brought her back to Delphos to settle in 2016. Celeste loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family - and was happiest in her life when she was holding one of her children, nieces and nephews or grandchildren. Celeste is survived by her parents, Joan and John Metzner as well as her siblings and their families - her brother John (Jay) Metzner III (Deb Oney) and his children and grandchildren John (Jace) Metzner IV (Amanda Vasquez) and children Troy Smith, Colt Cross, Maxwell Metzner and Sophia Metzner; Meghan Coil (Philip Coil) and children Camden and Olivia Coil; and Zachary Metzner (Rene Metzner) and children Brooklyn, Lincoln, Evelyn and Carolyn Mueller - her sister Paula Dinkins (Gary Gudakunst) and her son Andrew Dinkins and his daughters Kaelyn and Haylee - her brother Joseph (Tim) Metzner (Barbara Metzner) and children Joseph Metzner (Stefanie Metzner), Matthew Metzner, Paul Metzner (Aimee Metzner) and Gabrielle Metzner - her sister Ann Chung (Dr. Maurice Chung) and children Cherie, Chermin (Mimi), Tiffany, Lisa and Kathryn (Katie) Chung - her brother Michael Metzner (Cynthia Metzner) and their children and grandchildren Michael Metzner and his children Lance and Rosalie; Luke Metzner and Sarah Metzner - and her sister Julia (Julie) Dalton (Daniel Dalton) and their son Daniel. Special friends of the family, Michael and Susan Klaus and children, Gavin, Robin and Ian. She is also remembered by her children Theodore Kill (Megan Martin), Amanda Kill (Anthony Morabito) and Michael Kill (Katrina Kill), by her grandchildren, Camille (Coco), Celia and Florence Kill, Liliana and Genevieve Morabito and Evelyn Kill and her god children Robin Klaus, Joe Metzner, Leslie Kill, Betsy Linder and Rob Thitoff. She also leaves behind her husband's children and grandchildren James (Mercedes) Bushnell and their children Benjamin, Emilia and Hattie Bushnell and David Bushnell (Samantha (Sam) Williams) and their child Stanley - all of whom she loved as her own. She will be remembered as a loving daughter and sister, kind and caring mother, doting grandmother and a generous friend. She is preceded in death by her sisters MaryJo Metzner, Casey Metzner and Marian (Sis) Metzner and her husband Keith Bushnell. Her love for her family, both those that are still here and those that went before her, and their love for her can be summed up in a song she sang a number of times while listening to the oldies station driving her kids to school - "Though I know I'll never lose affection for people and things that went before, I know I'll often stop and think about them - in my life I love you more."
