Belva Marie Berelsman, 96, of Lima, passed away Wednesday June 14, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her Family.... She was born May 19, 1921 in Benton Ridge to Floyd and Ethel (Bunn) Powell, who both preceded her in death. On August 11, 1950 she married Norbert Berelsman who preceded her in death on January 17, 2006. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Powell, Paul Powell and Lowell ‘Red' Powell; and a sister, Edith Rutherford. Her Legacy.... Belva graduated from Bowling Green State University with a teaching degree. She had participated in sports while in college. She had taught for 42 years at Horace Mann and Lincoln Elementary School of the Lima Public School System. Belva loved to travel, taking many many trips in the car and always sent postcards back to family. She was an avid Reds fan and loved to bowl, being in several leagues over the years. She enjoyed watching the birds outside her window at home. Her Farewell Services.... A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at Weber Funeral Home, with Rev. John Powell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ft. Jennings. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday; and 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District for trees to be planted in Belva's memory.
