Arthur Fischer Obituary

Arthur Lawrence Fischer, 89, of Delphos, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015, at The Meadows of Kalida. His Family.... He was born May 27, 1926 in Delphos to the late Frank and Agnes (Warnecke) Fischer. On June 5, 1948 he married Gertrude P. (Hotz) Fischer. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2011. He is survived by his four children, Marietta "Etta" (Steve) Schimmoeller of Delphos, Nancy Ball of Lima, Dennis (Katherine) Fischer of Fort Wayne, Ind. and David (Michelle) Fischer of Delphos; two brothers, Elmer (Raylene) Fischer and Gerald (Carol) Fischer, both of Delphos; twelve grandchildren, Andrew, Greg and Kyle Schimmoeller, Lisa Trentman, Tracy Miller-Spaugy, Brian Miller, Benjamin, Matthew, Elizabeth, Christian, Rebekah and Collin Fischer; eight great-grandchildren, Sarah, John, Alisha and Ashley Schimmoeller, Briella Trentman, Logan Spaugy, Jayden Goens and Ava Fischer and one arriving in January; and four step-great-grandchildren; in-laws, Connie (Robert) Warniment of Delphos, Darlene (Jerry) Schmidt-Hoover of Roanoke, Va. and Urban Fuerst of Delphos. He was also preceded in death by in-laws, Ann Fuerst, Richard and Irma Warnecke and Marietta Hotz. His Legacy.... Art was a World War II Army Veteran. He was employed as a master meat cutter with Kroeger's until they left the area, and then worked at the IGA. He was a year-around fisherman, up until 2 weeks ago when he had gone with his son Dennis. He enjoyed attending St. John's volleyball and girls and boys basketball games. Art was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1362, VFW Post 3035, Coon and Sportsman Club and Friends at Jim's. His Farewell Services.... Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by the Delphos Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Scholarship Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
