Richard K. ‘Dick’ Stepleton, age 80, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 9:30 p.m. following a stroke.
He was born September 14, 1943, in Ottoville to Richard J. and Beatrice (Miller) Stepleton, who both preceded him in death. Richard married Sharon Nomina on August 5, 1967, she survives in Delphos.
Dick is also survived by his children, Brian Stepleton and Brenda (Jaret) McKinley, PhD. both of Delphos. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brelyn (Arik) Mitchener of Middle Point, Sommer Stepleton of Dayton, Corbin McKinley and Annabelle Stepleton both of Delphos, great-grandchildren, Bensen and Eleanor Mitchener; and a sister, Debra (Craig) Henkener of Wapakoneta. Dick is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Paige McKinley; brother, Robert Stepleton; and two sisters, Patricia Fackler and Carol Wittler.
He was a 1961 graduate of Ottoville High School and attended the Ohio State University, Lima for two years. He is a United State Air Force Veteran serving from 1961-1965. He was a driver and tank inspector at the J.S.M.C. in Lima retiring after 30 years of service. He had his pilot’s license and loved to fly, play tennis, travel to historic sites and visit different Air Force Museums. He enjoyed many t.v. shows, movies and reading and Stevie Nicks’ music. He will be remembered most as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa.
A public graveside service will be held at the Spencerville Cemetery on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council. Following the burial there will be a Celebration of Life to honor Richard at the Delphos Eagles for all to attend.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Health St. Rita’s, Hospice. Online condolences may be shared at weberfh.net. Weber Funeral in Delphos was entrusted with Richard’s arrangements.
