Ralph Wendell Theis, 89, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Vancrest of Delphos. His Family.... He was born May 29, 1927 in Grove City to the John and Elizabeth (Rader) Theis. On September 5, 1948 he married Ella (Blockberger) Theis, who survives in Delphos. He is also survived by a son, John (Cora) Theis of Delphos; a daughter; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Theis; a daughter, Ruth A. Theis; a sister, Ethel May Blockberger; a brother, Jim Leatherman; and a great-grandson. His Legacy.... Ralph retired in 1989 from Huffy's. He also had worked for Birkmeier Monument and was a custodian for St. Peter Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. He served in the United States Navy July 1945-October 1947, during world World War II. He was a life member of the V.F.W. 3035 and a member of the American Legion Post 268, Delphos. Ralph and his wife, Ella, enjoyed square dancing for 40 years, belonging to several different dance clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and making noodles for the church. His latest joy was playing bingo at Vancrest. His Farewell Services.... A celebration of Ralph's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos, Rev. Steve Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Delphos Veterans Council. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, October 10 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth Street, Delphos and an hour before the service at the church.
