Kenneth E. Rode, age 84, of Delphos, passed away Saturday March 11, 2017 at 5:45 A.M. at Vancrest Health Center in Delphos. His Family.... He was born March 29, 1932 to Frank C. and Regina (Grothaus) Rode, who both preceded him in death. On August 9, 1958 he married Gertrude C. (Burgei) Rode, who passed away November 10, 1999. He will be greatly missed by his family; two sons, Dan (Sue) Rode of Delphos and Brian (Carol) Rode of Findlay; two daughters, Karen (Stan) Wisher of Elida and Marcia (Jason) Vance of Lima and son-in-law Dave Siefker of Delphos, his long time supportive friend, Sharon Gengler of Delphos, his brother, Gerald A. Rode of Delphos; 10 Grandchildren; Kyle(Samantha) Rode, Lauren(Alan) Trentman, Nicholas(Abbie) Rode, Jenna Rode, Todd(Nikki) Wisher, Kevin Wisher, Lindsey Wisher, Kristy(John) Munoz, Jeff(Brittney) Siefker, and Justin Siefker and four Great Grandchildren; Kayleigh, Olivia, Roy, and Brayden. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Siefker; his brother, Vernon Rode; and sister, Arlene Edelbrock. His Legacy.... Ken dearly loved his family and especially spending time with the kids and grandkids. Ken was a very proud lifelong farmer of the Rode farm which has been in the family for well over a 100 years. His hobbies were fishing, traveling and golfing. He enjoyed spending time with his golfing buddies on and off the course. In 1976 he became part owner of Reliable Plumbing and Heating in Delphos and retired from there in 1993. Prior to Reliable he had worked at Sears as an appliance repairman for 20 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he previously served as an usher. Ken was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3035 in Delphos and served on their Burial Detail Honor Guard for many years. He was also a member of the Delphos Eagles Lodge #471, and the Van Wert Moose Lodge #1320 His Farewell Services.... Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the ALS Foundation.
